@NDSportsBlogger’s Weekend • Episode 1
Visiting Harry Shipp (‘14)
Aaron Horvath (@NDSportsBlogger)
Before the 2014 Notre Dame football season gets underway on August 30th, we wanted to get out to Chicago (a two-hour drive from Notre Dame) to see 2014 men’s soccer alum Harry Shipp play for the Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer.
After downing some stuffed pizza at a Chicago food landmark, Nate Steele (a Watch ND videographer) and I headed to Toyota Park for some pre-game action of the Fire.
Arriving at the Park almost three hours before the start of the match, we ran into some down time so we fetched a ball from the car trunk and began juggling and passing the rock around the parking lot adjacent to the field.
Let’s just say that the experience to watch a Fire game that a former student-athlete was playing in was a great time.
Once the match concluded we had the opportunity to speak with Shipp and he was just as welcoming as he was the previous year when he donned the Notre Dame jersey.
You will be able to find Shipp’s interview from the game throughout the season on the live Notre Dame men’s soccer broadcasts on WatchND.tv.
